EP35 Manifestation Ain't Magic: 5 Steps to Make Sh*t Happen
===
[00:00:00] You're like the stars in outer space. Something about you radiates. And it feels so nice, and it feels so nice, yeah
Jessica Gaines: Have you ever had something that you've always talked about, you've always dreamed about, but you never actually thought it would happen?
If you ever thought manifestation was a joke, then this episode is for you. Hi, I'm Jessica. This is the Starlit Success podcast,
So Eddie and I have been spending many evenings around the pool just kind of soaking in our new lives here in Florida
And honestly, it still feels kind of surreal
This is something that we've talked about for years. It's always been one of those things where it's like, what if we did this? What if, what if? Wouldn't it be nice? Could you imagine?
You know, we used to watch all the, Beach Hunter shows or the My Lottery Dream Home, and we would always pick the episodes where the people were moving to Florida, but it was never something that I thought would actually happen
And it's funny 'cause five years ago, I wasn't even thinking about any of this. Like, if you would've told me five years ago [00:01:00] that we would be living in Southwest Florida and I would have a podcast, I would be really confused. I would have a lot of questions
I was just momming and working, getting through my day-to-day life. None of this was even on my radar yet
And the funny thing is, is that Eddie used to always talk about moving somewhere warm. He's always been the dreamer, , and I would always shoot him down. I would always be like, "Nope, I'm never moving.
There's no way I would leave my family," this and that
Like in my mind, it wasn't even, it wasn't even possible.
I mean, anytime he would even talk about a dream of his Or an amazing opportunity that he thought might happen, I was always the one that would be like, "I'll believe it when I see it."
But now I actually kind of feel like an asshole because that goes against everything I believe now and everything that I teach
It was really sweet. We were sitting by the pool, and he thanked me for opening his eyes to things that he wouldn't have even considered possible. But I don't think he realizes his eyes were already open. I'm the one that needed the work
I had to work on myself. [00:02:00] I had to upgrade my mindset and my beliefs
I had to understand that the things that you talk about and the things that you dream about can become a reality
Even if it seems really far-fetched..
So in today's episode, we are gonna talk about manifestation
I thought we needed an episode like this because when I hear people talk about manifestation, it almost sounds as if they're joking. ... They say it in ways where it sounds like they're gonna put a spell on you. Like, "Ooh, I'm gonna manifest that
But it doesn't come across as though they believe that it's real.
But I think that's because there is some misunderstanding about what manifestation actually is
or what the word actually means
Manifestation kind of has this rap As though it's some kind of magic trick
Or that it's like a woo-woo practice
And I believe that the reason that happens is because some people might think that manifestation is just creating a vision board and saying some affirmations and thinking [00:03:00] positive thoughts, and then all of a sudden your Ferrari is just delivered to your driveway
I'm not saying that you can't speak some things into existence because we've all had those moments where we've thought or said something and then it actually happened,
. But some people think that manifestation is something separate from themselves
instead of something that you are actively engaged with
But if you treat manifestation as though it's like this mystical thing and it's outside of yourself
Most of the time you won't take action because you don't believe
like me, I was the one that was, " I'll believe it when I see it." I needed the evidence first in order for me to have enough proof that it was worth going after
what I was doing was essentially I was creating doubt. I was creating that resistance because if you don't believe something is possible, that's going to affect how you move. It's gonna affect your energy. if you have a lot of doubt and you don't think that it's possible, then you're [00:04:00] probably not gonna try
And if you don't try, then you're not doing the things that would actually create the proof that you need for this thing to exist
And if you treat manifestation as though it's magic and outside of your control, you're giving away your own power
So if you think that manifestation is just wanting something bad enough and then the universe just handing it to you on a silver platter, you're missing the biggest part, and that is you
your role in creating it And honestly, that's the most fun
So I want you to think about just some of the modern day conveniences or luxuries that we have So let's look at airplanes or smartphones or the internet, things that we use pretty regularly
These are all things that at one point were so far beyond the average person's imagination
These people that invented these things had an idea for something that never existed before
They didn't know if it would actually [00:05:00] work. They didn't have any proof that it was possible
But they believed it was possible enough to try
and because they had that belief, that helped them take the action to try
can you imagine how these inventors were perceived by their peers, by their family, by their friends? They probably thought they were fucking delusional. Putting something up in the sky and defying gravity
What? Some invisible field that connects all of us? What? What are you talking about
But then you wonder, like, at what point does an idea go from being delusional to, you know, someone being a visionary for having it?
What manifestation really is, is about turning your thoughts your feelings and your dreams into real life . It's not about believing something after you see it. It's about believing something before you see it
It's about having the idea, having the vision, and believing it's possible
And then when you believe it's possible,
[00:06:00] That's when you start making the decisions, taking the necessary action
Experimenting, adjusting Being persistent
what you're doing is you're turning the unseen, your internal world into the seen, into your, your physical reality, your physical world
So in a sense it can feel like magic because you're turning nothing into something, and because you have to be pretty delusional to do some of this
But it's not magic
Yesterday's crazy, insane, delusional idea becomes tomorrow's everyday tool
I believe you can change your life with just by the way you think.
Because if you think something is possible, then oftentimes you're gonna get excited about it. And if you're excited about it, that's gonna give you the motivation to try it, to go after it.
If you feel something isn't possible, if you think it's not possible, then you're probably gonna feel discouraged. And if you feel discouraged, you're gonna be a lot less likely to take any action on it. and you've probably heard the saying, [00:07:00] whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.
And that's kind of the essence behind that saying
And science supports this idea. So when you tell your brain that something is important to you, you're setting an intention, you're starting with that belief, you're thinking something is possible
it's almost like it becomes a bloodhound on a scent So you start noticing things that maybe you overlooked before. Maybe you start noticing people or opportunities
Maybe some of these things have always been there, but you just never noticed it until now
And the more you believe something is possible and you think about it and you, visualize it and you align your actions with it, you are strengthening those neural pathways in your brain. That is neuroplasticity. You're training your brain to believe that this is something that could actually happen
So when people say manifestation is just like thinking positive thoughts and thinking things into existence, they're missing the whole point
Your thoughts are what is changing what you're paying [00:08:00] attention to and how you're showing up
And that changes what you do
You are constantly training your mind. You're constantly syncing your actions to the way that you think. And if manifestation sounds like too woo-woo to you, don't, don't call it manifestation then. Call it creating your reality call it making shit happen. Call it whatever you want
But whatever you call it, when you think this way, you will see more opportunities. You will see more possibilities
You will feel more powerful and you will start believing that you are also the co-creator of your reality and you aren't just reacting to everything that comes your way
And when you believe in manifestation, you stop worrying so much, and you stop playing that what if game of all the things that could potentially go wrong, and you start expecting and planning for all the things that will go right
And if you're in this frame of mind where you are just expecting things to go your way and you're just planning things to work [00:09:00] out as they should, you raise your frequency. you move with a different energy
And that energy, that belief then will attract those things to you. It's almost like this magnetic field that will just draw it closer towards you
You start building like a manifestation muscle that just gets stronger and stronger.
And the best part is when you actually start seeing things that you once imagined start to become real and you start having that proof
Then you realize like, "Shit, I am capable of making stuff happen
And a lot of the times it doesn't even happen the way you expect I'll give you a little story about Zanden because I think it's cute and it proves really what manifestation is. So he really wanted this specific e-bike. I think it's called a Talaria, And at this time, I think he was, he was only 12.
He's 13 now. So he bought an e-bike off of Amazon, so a much, cheaper bike, probably around $600 or so. That's what he started with. But that wasn't good enough for him. He still had this Talaria model in [00:10:00] his head, and the Talaria was, I believe, around $3,000.
So Zanden is not someone to think that something is impossible. I love that about him. He thinks he can make whatever happen, happen. And he was right. So he had this $600 Amazon version, right? he turned on this intention that he wants this Talaria model, and now he's, he's seeing opportunities.
So now he sees a friend selling his e-bike because the friend was getting a car, he had just turned 16. Zanden talks this friend into selling him his e-bike for, I think, $1,000, but it was like a, a $2,000, $2,500 model. It wasn't the Talaria yet, Talks his friend into selling it to him for $1,000. Zanden comes up with all the money, buys this second model for $1,000, even though it's worth around 2,000.
Then few months later, he finds a guy on Facebook Marketplace that wants to trade with him for the Talaria model that he wants. So he trades the [00:11:00] bike that he just paid $1,000 for, even though it was worth twice as much or two and a half times as much, now he trades it for the Talaria model. So he had this vision in his mind.
He had this intention that he wanted this bike that he knew he couldn't afford at the time, but he made it happen in probably less than six months
And that is just the power of setting an intention and knowing what you want and having that vision and turning on your spidey senses to make that shit happen. So I thought it would be helpful to share the steps that I use in my life for manifestation the first one is probably the most difficult I struggled with this myself, and I think a lot of people struggle with it, and that is simply knowing what you want.
A lot of people really don't know what they want, so it's hard to manifest if you don't even know what it is that you're trying to do or what you're trying to attract or what you're trying to create
that's probably another episode on figuring out what the hell you want. But if you're unsure, if you can't really get [00:12:00] specific, at least have a general idea or at least have an idea of how you want it to feel. That's number one Number two is write it down. Write it down and visualize it So we're gonna put it on paper and we're gonna put it in our brain
the physical act of writing it down helps program your subconscious mind that this is what we're going after, and I need you to notice opportunities that will get me closer to it
we went to a car show a couple years ago, . this really, like, elite car show in Chicago, where these owners had condos for their cars. So it wasn't a condo that they lived in, although they could if they wanted, 'cause it was a fully furnished kitchen, bathroom, bedroom with their garage in it.
It's kind of hard to explain, but picture a condo with a garage inside the condo, and they have some of the most luxurious cars out there, I mean, cars that were close to $1 million,,
cars that were half a million, $1 million,.. my boys are big car freaks, . And they were blown away at the cars that were in these garages. you know, [00:13:00] me being the social person that I am, we met the owner of the, condo or the garage, and he ended up giving us a whole tour and kind of built some rapport with him.
So I asked him, like, " what made you so successful?" And he kinda told us, you know, how he got started and the different businesses that he built and how he sold them. And, Javen at the time I think was around 17. So I asked him, "What advice would you give him? what advice would you give a young adult that is just starting out in life?"
And that is the first thing he said: " Whatever it is that you want to achieve in life, write it down." He said, "Everything I've written down has come true." He said he even wrote that he wanted to hold a tiger, And that came true. He went on a trip to Mexico, and there was a guy walking down the street holding a baby tiger, and he asked if he could hold it, and that came true
I thought I would share that because this is someone who has achieved so much success in life that he's got millions of dollars just in vehicles, and [00:14:00] that's not even his multiple homes that he has or anything else that he has accomplished
And then visualize. what do you see it being? Where do you see yourself? Pretend like you're there. Pretend like you're at the end goal and you're looking back on yourself now
Your subconscious mind can't determine what is real versus what's imagined. so if you constantly put that vision in your head of what you want to achieve or that final outcome, you are programming your subconscious to go after it
you're mentally rehearsing for that ideal dream life that you're hoping to achieve
Okay, number three is gain proof and build evidence. So I've heard some coaches say that you can just decide to believe. And I'm not saying that that's not true. It was just harder for me. It was a lot harder for me to just believe that I could do something, just believe that you can make it happen.
I needed to surround myself with evidence that it was possible for me. It wasn't as easy for me to just say, "Oh [00:15:00] yeah, I believe it's just gonna happen, no problem."
I had to build that belief because I'm, I'm what you would consider like a recovering realist. Like I said, I was one of those people that was, "I'll believe it when I see it." it was a lot harder for me to just believe it
So what I did is I just immersed myself in proof. I read books. I followed successful people. I watched interviews
I joined communities That repetition, that constant exposure to people and possibility, it's kinda hard to not believe when you see so many other people living it
it was like, if I realized that it could be real for others, then it was a lot easier for me to believe that it was possible for me
Again, it's that mental training
Uh, number four, pretend it's already happened. you'll hear the phrase act as if. So pretend your end result is already there, it already exists, and then align your actions with that [00:16:00] outcome So when I first heard this, I'm like, "What are we playing pretend?" Like, that seems kind of crazy. Like, I'm just gonna pretend that it already happened.
Like, mm, you're not pretending that your current reality doesn't exist. that's not what this is You're looking at it from the lens of, if this already happened, if this already exists, then what would the version of myself be doing now to make sure that is a reality? Like what would I be doing today if that already happened?
I did this with moving to Florida. So if I am in fact living in Florida, what would I have to do today to make sure that that happens? I would have to start looking for places. I would have to start looking for property managers to make sure that my house gets rented. I would have to start looking at schools.
I would have to start talking to people and communicating that we're moving. I'd have to tell my job. all of these things are what manifests that into reality. This is actually a pretty [00:17:00] funny, pretty funny one. . We were at the store shopping, and Eddie saw some pants.
And we said, "Oh, you're probably gonna have to get some new work pants for when you get a job." He's like, "Yeah, I'll probably have to do that." And then I'm like, "No, get them now. you're gonna need them. We have to pretend that you already got a job, and if you already got a job, then you would need pants.
So let's pretend you already got the job. Let's get the pants now." , You know, I, I don't believe in coincidences. I believe in synchronicities. I believe in all this manifestation. The funny thing is, is after we bought those pants and acted as if he already had a job, that next week his phone was popping.
I mean, he was getting interview after interview. He got multiple offers, and now he will be starting very soon
So get into that feeling again before it even happens. You have to magnetize that energy Talk about it, plan for it, expect it. Expect that it's already happening. It's already there
If it's already happened, what would you be doing right now? [00:18:00] If you wanna write a book, well then you better start writing. If you wanna start a podcast, well you better start planning content. Act as if
You don't have to have it all figured out. You do not have to have the whole thing figured out. I certainly did not. But when you take that first step, then that will slowly reveal what the next step is
And where the next step will lead
Okay, number five. Show gratitude as if it's already happened. So kinda similar to act as if, so pretending like it's already happened. be thankful for it already having happened. So instead of asking for it, instead of praying for it, thank your higher power, thank God, thank the universe, thank whatever you believe in for helping make it happen.
When you're always in a state of wanting or asking for something, you're putting out the energy as though you don't have it, that there is a lack of it
You're putting the focus on not having it yet, and where attention goes, [00:19:00] energy flows. that state of gratitude, that state of being thankful and appreciating it raises your frequency. It, it gives you a different energy. You move different.
You don't wanna be in that state of not having it and wanting it and asking for it and looking for it. be thankful for it having already happened. So write it down in your journal. Say it in your prayers every night. . Thank you for helping me make my dreams come true.
Thank you for fill in the blank
You show up in a different energy when you feel like you already have it versus needing it
Okay, just to sum it all up here. So step number one is know what you want. If you don't exactly know what you want, know how you want it to feel Step number two is write it down and visualize it. Use that mental rehearsal. number three, gain proof and build belief. So surround yourself with people who have proven that it's already possible Number four, act as if.
Pretend it's already happened, and what would the version of you be doing now if it already did? And number five, show gratitude before it even [00:20:00] happens
And this week I want you to just look around. Look at your life. Everything in your life you've already manifested. You can gain proof there. What in your life are you proud of having already manifested? It could be the house that you bought. It could be the family that you've raised. It could be the job that you have.
You've manifested something And now think about what you would like to manifest . Start by writing it down and thinking of one action that you could take this week that would move you closer to it
Just a reminder, manifestation is not just wishful thinking, it is participation
All starts in your mind, , so be very aware of your thoughts and your intentions because you are manifesting every day, whether you're aware of it or not
That's what I have for you guys today. So let me know, what are you manifesting? What have you already manifested? I would love to know, so drop it in the comments, send me a DM. If you're not already following me, follow me over on Instagram @starlitsuccess in all the platforms. So thank you for spending your time and energy with me today.
I will see you on the [00:21:00] next episode
